Thanksgiving celebration to be held Saturday

The annual celebration – organized by Fathers Who Care and Westside Community Stakeholders – will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Michele Clark High School, 5101 W. Harrison.

The annual celebration – organized by Fathers Who Care and Westside Community Stakeholders – will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Michele Clark High School, 5101 W. Harrison.
Food giveaways will take place Saturday and Sunday. The Garfield Park Friendsgiving celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov, 19 at 3834 W. Madison St., and a Thanksgiving dinner will be provided from 10 a.m. to noon at Black Wall Street, 3708 W. Roosevelt Road. Free turkeys will be distributed at 11 a.m. Nov. 20 at 5932 W. Lake St.
Events are being held Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday on the West Side.
Turkeys and the trimmings will be distributed starting at 8 a.m. Nov. 9 at 5015 W. Madison St. Holiday meals will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Masks are required.

Families in need may pick up food at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at Michele Clark High School, 5101 W. Harrison St. The food drive is sponsored by Fathers Who Care, Michele Clark High School and Austin Parent University.
At 1 p.m. Nov. 16, 1,000 turkeys will be given away by the Black Village Foundation, Chicago Bears player Tarik Cohen and Lil Durk’s Neighborhood Heroes. Stop by Dearborn Wholesaler Grocers, 4525 W. Madison St. There will also be free COVID testing.
Turkeys will be distributed on a first come, first served basis starting at 11 a.m. Nov. 23 at 5713 W. Chicago Ave.; and beginning at 12 p.m. at Michele Clark High School, 5101 W. Harrison St., and 5744 W. Chicago Ave. If you aren’t able to stop by one of the Austin sites during these times, turkeys are being distributed elsewhere throughout the city.
All are welcome at the free event Nov. 9th at George Leland School, 512 S. Lavergne.
