West Siders turn out for chili cook off in Austin’s Soul City

The second annual “It’s Getting Chili in Soul City” was held Saturday in Austin. Shirley McClain and Shirley Howard took home 1st place honors.
Members of the Austin African American Business Networking Association spent Memorial Day weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to take part in the Black Wall Street Legacy Festival and collaborate with other Black business owners.
At least 4,000 people gathered in Austin Saturday to enjoy music, food and family fun along the Soul City Corridor along Chicago Avenue.
There will be food vendors and live blues music throughout the day, June 11th, starting at noon at 5720 W. Chicago Ave.
Stop by the Soul City community market – powered by Austin Fresh! – on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 5713 W. Chicago Ave.
