Congressman Danny Davis, state Rep. La Shawn Ford and others gathered earlier this month to advocate for more funding for prisoners being released back into society. This month marks the 11th anniversary of the federal Second Chance Act, which Davis helped push through Congress.
Learn about job and educational opportunities, workforce training and resume writing. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 at 5138 W. Division St., is sponsored by Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin and pastor David Kay.
Ex-cons can learn about jobs, housing, education opportunities and more at the Oct. 8th event, which takes place from 9 a.m. to noon at Another Chance Assembly Church, 5138 W. Division St.
The event at University of Illinois-Chicago helps ex-prisoners apply to get their records expunged.
