Summer concerts in Austin start Friday evening

The songs of Aretha Franklin will be performed 7 p.m. May 27 at Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson. Four other shows will be held throughout the summer.

The songs of Aretha Franklin will be performed 7 p.m. May 27 at Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson. Four other shows will be held throughout the summer.
Students from the Chicago West Community Music Center will perform May 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson Blvd.
Tickets are $5 for the show, which is being staged March 17 and 18 at the Austin Town Hall.
Pianist Erwin Helfer will commemorate his 80th birthday in a two-hour performance Feb. 19th with several other musicians.
Final Explosion performed in Atlanta, Georgia, late last week.
The Westside Health Authority has organized the free event at the Davis Play Lot from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
The Chicago West Community Music Center’s ensemble will give a free performance 6 p.m. Aug. 7 at Garfield Park.
Come to Columbus Park at 4 p.m Sunday for the performance.
Tickets are still available for the June 13 performance that will benefit St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
