The two-day event – July 22 and July 29th – will be held at Prosser High School. Participants must attend both days.
The city’s only Walmart will hold a job fair Friday for its West Side store, which is scheduled to become a 24-hour operation in September.
Walsh Construction executives and reps from People for Public Action and the Westside Health Authority plan to talk monthly. The goal: employing more West Siders in the construction industry.
The event, sponsored by Rep. La Shawn K. Ford, the Chicago Urban League and others, will take place at Malcolm X College.
The non-profit organization has helped tens of thousands since starting in a three-flat apartment building. The $15.5 million social service agency employs nearly 300 and has 400 volunteers.
Business owners will want to act fast because there’s a limited number of tax credits available, said Austin Rep. La Shawn Ford.
Dozens of West Side youth spent spring break attending a week-long youth empowerment and job readiness program. They’re guaranteed jobs this summer, and community leaders hope that means fewer juvenile arrests.
