Hoops and jobs for West Side youth

Local elected officials will host a job readiness workshop, then play a basketball game with participants at the March 19 event held at Austin’s former YMCA, 501 N. Central Ave.

Local elected officials will host a job readiness workshop, then play a basketball game with participants at the March 19 event held at Austin’s former YMCA, 501 N. Central Ave.
The free 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 8 basketball skills clinic is being held at Marshall High School, 3250 W. Adams St. Youth ages 8 to 18 are welcome to participate. Registration starts at 12:15. Canned goods for a local food pantry will also be collected at the event.
The next game will be played 4 p.m. Dec. 7th at home against Hope.
Youth 11 to 14 years old can register now for a new three-month community basketball program. Austin Safety Net Works is sponsoring the league as well as one for younger kids.
