State Rep. La Shawn Ford will be hosting the Dr. Charles Drew annual blood drive June 24 from 12 to 5 p.m. at the American Red Cross Rauner Center, 2200 W. Harrison St. For an appointment, call 800-RED-CROSS. All donations will be tested for sickle cell trait and COVID-19 antibodies.
Anyone 12 or over can get vaccinated June 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Michele Clark High School, 5101 W. Harrison St. The Pfizer (ages 12+) and Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+) vaccines will be available. For 12- to 17-year-olds, a parent or legal guardian must be one site to sign the consent form.
The first Austin Town Hall farmers market of the season will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. June 10. It will continue on Thursdays through Sept. 30.

Registrations are still being accepted for Saturday’s Global 6K for Water walk/run organized by World Vision. The 3.7 mile event, being held virtually for a second year because of the pandemic, raises money to provide clean water around the world.
Congressman Danny Davis, along with community partners and the Illinois Department of Corrections, hosted the event last weekend. It’s part of Davis’ larger work on making reentry after incarceration easier for the thousands of Chicagoans who return to the city after getting out of prison.
To qualify for a free mammogram, patients must be 40 or older with no issues or symptoms and not have had a mammogram within the last year. To qualify for a pap smear, patients must be over 21 and not have had a pap smear in the past three years. Seniors are invited to learn about preventing COVID and get vaccinated at Westside Health Authority, 5437 W. Division St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 10 and 27.
The Johnson & Johnson one dose shot is available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Friday through May 28 in the North Austin Library parking lot, 5724 W. North Ave. Walk-ups are welcome.
