Free prostate cancer screening tests will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 at West Suburban Medical Center. The simple finger prick test will be available to men ages 40 and up.
The West Side hospital is offering free gastrointestinal (GI) screenings for uninsured or underinsured residents of Austin and surrounding communities in March. It’s especially important that African Americans get screened, because they are 20 percent more likely to get colorectal cancer and about 40 percent more likely to die from it than most other groups. oretto will also host a Facebook Live event on colorectal health Monday, March 8 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The event, which includes free screenings, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. March 21 at Loretto Hospital, 645 S. Central.
Free screenings and educational resources will be available at the free event, held at BUILD’s headquarters. It begins with registration at 9 a.m. Aug. 20th and ends that day at 4 p.m.
