Friday’s event, organized by the Austin African American Business Networking Association, will honor Austin Green Team founder Mary Peery, Chicago Police Department First Deputy Al Wysinger and businesswoman Kelley Moseley.
They invite the mayor, police chief and others to return when criminal activity is much higher, and they urge that an action plan be developed to improve neighborhood safety.
Chicago’s largest neighborhood will miss out on buying fresh fruits and vegetables from farm cooperatives this summer. But at least one Austin resident is willing to find a new location for the market, which was set to begin July 10.
