Food delivery service for Austin residents with disabilities extended

The 100 Austin residents participating in the free program will get twice-monthly deliveries for another six months.
Three boxes of grains, produce and meat will be distributed per household from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 at the corner of Leamington and Kinzie. You can walk or drive up.
West Side residents can pick up free food on Thursdays starting May 14 at By The Hand Club For Kids, 415 S. Laramie. The pop-up pantry will be available on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through June 18. It’s one of several being held throughout the city.
The Greater Chicago Food Depository’s lunch bus begins Monday and runs through Sept. 2 at several locations throughout the city, including the Austin branch library, 5615 W. Race St.
Free breakfast and lunch are available on the West Side for those 18 and under this month and next.
Applications are being accepted for the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s community kitchen training program.
There are many pantries, soup kitchens and mobile produce marts for those in need of food on the West Side.
Austin residents who live in the 60644 and 60651 zip codes can pick up food every Saturday at Hope Community Church. A mobile food truck visits the second Thursday of the month.
