The Space to Grow initiative at George Leland Elementary creates outdoor space that benefits West Siders’ health and the environment.
It’s one of four citywide that’s a Space to Grow pilot project, sponsored by Openlands and the Healthy Schools Campaign.
The Chicago Board of Education is expected to approve the district’s 2013-2013 spending plan at its monthly meeting tomorrow.
Some question whether the right streets were chosen and if there was enough community input.
The event was one of the last for the West Side school that closed for good last week.
A closing ceremony will be held Tuesday, June 18th at the school, one of four in Austin being shuttered by CPS this month.
