City health officials are advising that everyone 6 months and older get a flu shot this year. The Chicago Department of Public Health has relaunched the Chicago Flu Vaccine Finder, a web-based app that shows where you can get a flu shot. In Austin residents can go to one of two Walgreens, one at 5222 W. Madison St. and the other at 1546 N. Central Ave.
Find the nearest flu clinic near you. West Side locations include La Follette Park (Oct. 19), Riis Park (Oct. 27) and Columbus Park (Nov. 2). Getting vaccinated this fall is especially important to prevent a convergence of flu and COVID-19, experts say. The Centers for Disease and Prevention recommends everyone – with a few exceptions – who is 6 months of age or older get the annual flu vaccine.
The Chicago Department of Health will be administering shots from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 23rd at Ald. Chris Taliaferro’s ward office, 6272 W. North Ave.
Ald. Chris Taliaferro is hosting a free walk-in clinic with assistance from the Chicago Department of Health from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 6272 W. North Ave.
The Chicago Department of Public Health is holding special clinics in the next few weeks in the 24th Ward, and the 11th and 25th police districts.
The Chicago Department of Public Health and Walgreens are offering the vaccinations.
The Austin CBC Initiative is sponsoring the event, from 12 to 2 p.m. at 4800 W. Chicago Ave.
