Last Austin disaster recovery center to close Tuesday

Oct. 30 is the deadline for residents and business owners to apply to FEMA for disaster assistance in the wake of the summer flooding.
Residents whose homes and/or businesses were damaged in the summer storms can get help with their applications for assistance at two sites in Austin: 4851 W. North Ave. and 500 S. Central Ave.
Austin residents whose homes or businesses were damaged in the devastating floods that occurred from June 29 to July 2 can apply for grants and loans through FEMA.
Homeowners, renters and businesses affected during this summer’s floods have until 10 p.m. Nov. 17th to seek help.
Representatives from FEMA will be at the meeting at Rhema Word Church to explain how to apply for assistance if you suffered damages in the flood. Several other topics will be covered, including voting in the Nov. 2nd election and getting a new public high school in Austin.
West Side residents who suffered damage in the summer storms have another month to apply for help from FEMA.
Victims of the summer floods lined up early Wednesday at FEMA’s center to apply for money.
Help will be available today at several Austin-area schools for those needing to start the application process.
State Rep. La Shawn K. Ford, the Westside Health Authority and the South Austin Coalition Community Council say more should be done to help Austin residents.
