The organization that’s served at-risk Chicago youth for four decades is now providing services at 5100 W. Harrison St.
While some express support for the city’s plan, others remain concerned the West Side was not singled out for specific projects.
The students and recent graduates received cash awards from the Chicago Engineers’ Foundation of the Union League of Chicago.
The students will be spending nearly a year in the Bethel New Life program to help them realize and pursue their academic dreams, ending with a trip to Princeton University spring 2013.
Last week’s meeting was held to discuss the schools’ issues, assess past reforms and current changes in process, and talk about Chicago Teachers Union negotiations.
The CPS and Kipp Create merger was one of various citywide school actions announced by the Chicago Board of Education in February.
The recipients were honored July 13 at the annual Excellence in Education Concert and Awards Ceremony.
