Oct. 30 is the deadline for residents and business owners to apply to FEMA for disaster assistance in the wake of the summer flooding.
The Red Cross has no designated shelters in Austin, causing some residents to worry about where they could go if a tornado, flood or other natural disaster hits the West Side.
Homeowners, renters and businesses affected during this summer’s floods have until 10 p.m. Nov. 17th to seek help.
West Side residents who suffered damage in the summer storms have another month to apply for help from FEMA.
Help will be available today at several Austin-area schools for those needing to start the application process.
Federal and state inspectors are still assessing the damage caused by the July 23rd storm, while officials offer information about where to turn for help.
