The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at the Westside Justice Center, 601 S. California Ave. Free fingerprinting services to obtain rap sheets will be available to the first 50 people.
Clerk of the Circuit Court Dorothy Brown is hosting a “second chance” virtual expungement summit Aug. 1 from 9 to 11 a.m. Participants must have their rap sheets and/or criminal records to register for Saturday’s event.
Lawyers will be available April 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help West Siders apply for jobs in health care, schools and the parks.
Some companies are now joining the state of Illinois in removing the box on employment applications that asks job seekers whether they have a criminal record.
The event at University of Illinois-Chicago helps ex-prisoners apply to get their records expunged.
Residents are encouraged to contact state representatives in support of the bill before March 8.
