Deadline nearing for teens, young adults to apply for summer jobs

More than 30,000 jobs and internships are available to people ages 14 to 24. One Summer Chicago is accepting applications through May 20.
Chicago officials will hold the second of four city-wide meetings to promote the new Invest South/West program Jan. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kehrein Center, 5608 W. Washington Blvd. The focus will be on the Austin, Humboldt Park and North Lawndale neighborhoods.
The application period is just one day – from 6 p.m. Jan. 7 through 5:59 a.m. Jan. 8. For more information, call 311 or go to www.311.chicago.gov.
Residents have until Oct. 31 to buy a city sticker for 2019 and pay no back charges or late fees. Starting Nov. 15, Chicago residents can apply to have some or all of their city sticker tickets forgiven; the deadline to apply for sticker ticket debt relief is Dec. 15.
West Side residents are encouraged to apply quickly as the Chicago Department of Transportation has limited funds for the popular program.
The seven – all located along Chicago Avenue, the “Soul City Corridor” – are receiving more than $558,000 out of $5 million being distributed citywide under the new Retail Thrive Zone program.
About 155,000 households are eligible for a rebate of up to $200 and can apply through Friday, Dec. 30th.
The city of Chicago is looking for performers who can dance, act or read poetry. Tryouts will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 25 at La Follette Park, 1333 N. Laramie.
Spots will fill up quickly for the chance to share repair costs with the city.
