The free event will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at Columbus Park, 500 S. Central Ave. Congressman Danny Davis is hosting the event along with several other elected officials and local groups.

After years of work involving dozens of West Side residents, the spotlight will be on the plan from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Dec. 15. The event – organized by Austin Coming Together – will be held at Michele Clark High School, 5101 W. Harrison St.
The Chicago Community Alliance will hold the event from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 9th at the Garfield Park Golden Dome, 100 N. Central Park. Ald. Jason Ervin and state Rep. Melissa Conyears-Ervin are the hosts.
The Loretto Hospital is collecting boots, coats, hats, gloves, shirts, pants, shoes and other clothing for its patients. There are drop boxes at the hospital, 645 S. Central Ave., and at 5120 W. Jackson Blvd.
Don’t miss your chance to get a photo with Santa when the specially decorated train and bus make their stops on the West Side.
The free hot meal will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 22 at 5545 W. Harrison. It’s hosted by Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and St. Martin De Porres Church.
The pre-Thanksgiving event – hosted by Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin, Ald. Chris Taliaferro and Lillian Drummond – will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Nov. 16th at the Austin Senior Satellite Center, 5071 W. Congress Parkway.
Dinner will be served from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 14 at George Leland School, 512 S. Lavergne. The event is free and open to the community.
