The event – free for seniors 55 and up – will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at Austin Town Hall, 5610 W. Lake St.
Free screenings and demonstrations also available at the free event, which will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hartgrove Hospital, 5730 W. Roosevelt Road.
Local residents will discuss Chicago’s response to Ferguson from 6 to 8 p.m. at Greater St. John Bible Church, 1256 N. Waller.
The Westside Instructional String and Harp program will perform from 12 to 1 p.m. Dec. 6 at Garfield Park Golden Dome, 100 N. Central Park.
The parade starts at 6 p.m. Dec. 4th at the corner of Madison and Cicero, and the tree lighting is set for 7:15 p.m. outside the 15th District police station, 5701 W. Madison.
Watch the Chicago West Community Music Center from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday.
State Rep. La Shawn Ford and U.S. Congressman Danny K. Davis say relations between African-American communities and the police must improve, and there needs to be a true commitment to community policing.
The event, sponsored by several West Side groups and elected officials, begins at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 20 and will be held at George Leland Elementary School, 512 S. Lavergne.
Youth Guidance provides social and emotional school-based programs that help at-risk Chicago children.
