West Side residents invited to Thanksgiving feast

Five candidates filed for the 28th, 29th and 37th Ward seats on the first day they could. Candidates have a week – until Nov. 26th – to file their nominating petitions with the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.
The pre-Thanksgiving event – hosted by Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin, Ald. Chris Taliaferro and Lillian Drummond – will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Nov. 16th at the Austin Senior Satellite Center, 5071 W. Congress Parkway.
Dinner will be served from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 14 at George Leland School, 512 S. Lavergne. The event is free and open to the community.
The luncheon, hosted by Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin and Jasmine Jackson Oak Street Health, will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at 4623 W. Gladys. To attend Wednesday’s event, you must RSVP.
Meet at the corner of Madison and Keeler at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 3 for the march kick-off. A job and resource fair will be held after the march.
One party is being held from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 846 N. Menard, and the other will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the 15th Police District, 5701 W. Madison St.
The Austin Town Hall Advisory Board is hosting the Oct. 27th event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be games, raffles, food and more.
The 25th District is seeking the public’s thoughts on how officers should be trained. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Heritage International Christian Church, 5320 W. North Ave.
The weekly program at Tolton Peace Center will help teens with managing stress and goal setting; it will run from Nov. 7 through Dec. 19 at the Tolton Peace Center.
