Ford sent out an email Thursday afternoon announcing he’s planning to meet with constituents Friday at his office, 5104 W. Chicago Ave.
The 7 to 9 p.m. meeting at Holstein Park, 2200 N Oakley Ave., will allow attendees to discuss standardized testing. Those interested in participating must contact Raise Your Hand to RSVP.
Despite protests by Chicagoans who travelled to Springfield to make their voices heard, the measure was approved by the Illinois House Executive Committee. The House and Senate will still have to vote before it can be signed into law by Gov. Pat Quinn.
The event, hosted by the Austin Chamber of Commerce and the 15th District Police Department, is set to kick off at West Madison Street and South Cicero Avenue at 6 p.m. Dec. 6.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel gathered with community leaders Tuesday at Austin Polytechnical Academy to announce the funding that will be used to support advanced manufacturing education and programs in the community.
The free event will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 18 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 846 N. Menard Ave.
