The program will help residents of both communities fight crime. The office, located on Chicago Avenue near Austin Boulevard, opens in July.
Agencies in the Austin neighborhood will be available to help residents with employment, health screenings, education counseling, ex-offender services, youth programs, obtaining a GED and other public services on May 4 from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at San Miguel School, 819 N. Leamington Ave.
A dedication ceremony for a new mural in Austin will take place Saturday, May 22 at the mural site, at the northeast corner of Chicago and Mayfield avenues. The AIDS “Austin Is Doing Something” mural is part of an awareness campaign of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.
