Join BUILD staff and state Rep. La Shawn Ford to learn about work being done in Austin and plans for the future. Building tours will be given, at 5100 W. Harrison St., and refreshments will be served at the 5:30 p.m. event on Dec. 17.
This month’s fresh produce market will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 13; from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 14; and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m Dec. 15 at 5051 W. Chicago Ave. There will be a large selection of affordable fresh produce, recipe demonstrations, free sampling and giveaways.
The visit with Santa event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Dec. 14 at Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson Blvd. Christmas stockings stuffed with goodies and a picture with Santa will be available to children 12 and under accompanied by an adult.
All Austin residents are invited to the community summit, where updates will be given on Austin’s quality-of-life plan. Celebrate the victories and investments, and discover how you can get involved. The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 14 at Kehrein Center for the Arts, 5628 W. Washington Blvd.
The free FOIA clinic and know your rights workshop, organized by the Chicago Westside NAACP branch, will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at Sankofa Cultural Center, 5820 W. Chicago Ave. Dinner will be served.
All West Side stakeholders are invited to the meet and greet with 15th District Commander Yolanda Talley 9 a.m. Dec. 9 at Sankofa Cultural Arts & Business Center, 5820 W. Chicago Ave. Breakfast will be served.
The event will kick off at 5 p.m. Dec. 6 at Unity Fellowship Church at the corner of Cicero and Madison, followed by the tree lighting at 6 p.m. in front of the 15th District Police station, 5701 W. Madison St. The annual parade and tree lighting is organized by the Austin Chamber of Commerce.
The Central Austin Neighborhood Association (CANA) will hold the annual holiday event at Third Unitarian Church, 301 N. Mayfield Ave., from 12 to 4 p.m. Dec. 7. There will be jewelry, artwork, fashion and beauty items, and more. Free food to those who make purchases.
Get help completing your student’s application for the 2020-2021 school year before the Dec. 13th deadline. The Austin workshop will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at BUILD Inc., 5100 W. Harrison St. Bring your student’s ID number if you have one.
