The June 28 meeting at Columbia College Chicago, sponsored by the Community Media Workshop, brought together journalists with youth and members from organizations to promote awareness and discuss ways to improve reporting the issues.
The seventh and eighth-graders teamed up with Columbia College Chicago to produce music, videos, stories and poetry to express their feelings about violence on the West Side.
The site allows inmates to share their talents with the world by uploading their handwritten letters, artwork, stories and poems.
