Three of the eight candidates on the Feb. 22nd ballot offered their views Monday night on some of the major issues facing Austin.
Issac Carothers will report later this summer to a federal prison in South Dakota and must pay restitution.
Ald. Deborah Graham says she’s also interested in improving the physical health of the community and exploring ways to fund projects in the 29th Ward using TIF money. Graham says her experience as a state lawmaker will help her put a much-needed spotlight on Austin.
Our partners at the Austin Weekly News stopped by Ald. Deborah Graham’s office. Another new official – state Rep. Camille Lilly – will host the community May 20th from 6 to 9 p.m. at Columbus Park Refectory.
Ald. Emma Mitts (37th) says she isn’t upset Mayor Daley didn’t select her as chairman of the Chicago City Council’s Police and Fire Committee, which is one of the more powerful committees of the Chicago City Council. Daley instead tapped Ald. Anthony Beale (9th) to head that committee, but Mitts didn’t come out empty handed. Daley picked her as the new chairwoman of the council’s Landmarks Committee, which Beale is leaving.
