Nearly 14,000 Chicagoans living in the 60651 ZIP code have experienced water debt. Attend a free virtual session April 12th to learn about the city’s billing system and get connected to resources. The event is sponsored by WBEZ/Chicago Public Radio.
The investigation by ProPublic Illinois and WBEZ/Chicago Public Radio found that Austin and nine other of Chicago’s 77 community areas have duplicate ticket rates that are more than 4.5 times the median for the city.
Dwayne Truss says the mayor and aldermen have not done a good job of managing debt or paying for pensions.
The listening session, which included student demonstrations and roundtable discussions, was part of a national program to help Americans stay out of debt.
