The giveaway serves as a reminder that eligible households can receive up to $30 a month toward the cost of internet and/or mobile service under a federal program.
West Side residents are invited to two Christmas tree lightings on Dec. 1. The first will take place after the Austin parade, which starts at 5 p.m. at the 15th Police District. The other tree lighting – sponsored by Austin Coming Together and the 600 block of Lorel Block Club, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.
Austin Coming Together is accepting toys for children ages 0 to 18 through Dec. 1. Drop off donations in person at 5049 W. Harrison St or donate via Amazon.
Residents can suggest and vote on community projects in the north, central and south portions of the ward, helping decide how to spend $450,000 in city funds.
A groundbreaking will be held at 5713 W. Chicago Ave. at 11 a.m. Nov. 15. The store is expected to open in the last half of 2024. Also this week, the Austin Community Food Co-op is holding another virtual session about their work to bring another grocery store to Austin.
Residents are invited to a participatory budget meeting that will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at 6272 W. North Ave.
The community event, sponsored by BUILD Chicago, will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 9 at 1605 N. Troy St.
Stop by Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson St., from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8.
The center at Washington Square Mall, 4851 W. North Ave., will be open 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, before closing for Nov. 7th.
