Patients of the PCC Community Wellness Center can get free legal services thanks to a new partnership PCC has formed with the Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing.
State Rep. La Shawn Ford, Loretto Hospital, the West Side Heroin Task Force and Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti are hosting a breakfast April 4th, 50 years after the civil rights leader was assassinated. Fighting the West Side’s heroin epidemic will be the focus of this morning’s event. Then at 12:30 there will be a wreath laying at the corner of 4800 W. Chicago Ave.
Ald. Chris Taliaferro and the South Austin Neighborhood Association will present the documentary from 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 4 at Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson Blvd.
Young people ages 5 to 19 are invited to sign up for the classes, which begin Monday, April 2 and run through May 31. Instruction will be provided by Final Explosion Dance Studio.
The first 100 youth between ages 16 and 21 to arrive today, March 26, between 10:30 and 11 a.m. will be guaranteed summer job registration. There will also be a youth town hall during the free event, which ends at 4 p.m. and will be held at By the Hand Club for Kids at 415 N. Laramie
Young people ages 16 to 24 can learn about job opportunities, internships and mentoring programs at the event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. March 24 at Christ the King Jesuit High School, 5088 W. Jackson St. Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin is sponsoring the event.
All are welcome March 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Westside Justice Center, 601 S. California. This may be the last opportunity to learn where the candidates stand on this issue before Tuesday’s primary election.
