Six Democratic candidates met this week’s filing deadline to run for the open 1st District Cook County Commissioner seat.

The candidates include Ike Carothers, a convicted felon who had to resign from his aldermanic position, and Ronald Lawless, who sought the seat in 2010.

Commissioner Earlean Collins did not seek re-election; she’s held the office since 1998.

The winner of the March 18 primary will be on the November general election ballot. No Republicans filed for the primary race by the Dec. 2nd deadline.
