Cook County Board race heats up

Our partners at the Oak Park Wednesday Journal and Austin Weekly News are reporting that attorney Richard Boykin claimed property tax homeowner exemptions he wasn’t entitled to.

Boykin, one of five candidates vying to replace retiring Commissioner Earlean Collins, told the newspapers he was not aware of his multiple homestead exemptions until recently. Once he learned of the issue Boykins said he quickly took steps to correct the mistake that saved him thousands of dollars on his property taxes.
