Time running out to support the Chicago Chargers youth football team

By |

Our partners at the Austin Weekly News recently featured the Chicago Chargers youth football team, which is headed to Florida next month – if $22,000 can be raised in the next few days.

The team, made up of 8th and 9th graders, has gone nearly undefeated this season, playing at times in bitter cold and rain. That qualified them for the United Youth Football League’s national championships Dec. 5th.

The cheerleading squad – the Lady Chargers – also hope to make the trip to compete in the cheer championships. In all, 36 kids (23 boys and 13 girls) are expected to go, the Austin Weekly News reports.

This will be the third time the team has competed in the national championship.

The money raised will pay for a coach bus, room and board for the eight-day trip.

The team has a PayPay account and is selling $5 raffle tickets for a 50-inch plasma screen TV.
