Another candidate may be challenging incumbent Earlean Collins

Another candidate may be jumping into the race against 1st District Cook County Commissioner Earlean Collins, the Forest Park Review reports.

Forest Park Commissioner Rory Hoskins is mulling a run for commissioner.

At least two others have declared their candidacy to unseat 15-year incumbent Collins in the March 2014 primary — Austin attorney Blake Sercye and lawyer Richard Boykin, a former chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Danny Davis, the Forest Park Review writes.

Four years ago, Collins defeated three other Democrats in the 2010 primary before beating Green candidate Ron Lawless, who was endorsed by both the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune, in the general election. Lawless, an insurance and financial consultant, has set up a 2014 campaign web site.

Commissioner Collins recently told AustinTalks that she has not decided whether to seek another four-year term. Earlier this year, she told the Sun-Times that she may run again because “the press is so rotten to me.”
