Students from Chicago Talent Development Academy and their City Year team leaders hit the streets last week to clean up parts of the West Garfield neighborhood.
Each year, City Year mentors offer students the opportunity to create a community-focused project, and this spring students put a clean-up at the top of the list.
Students planted flowers on Thursday and learned how neglect affects communities. They also removed trash from high-traffic areas nearby and surrounding the school.
