Austin artists raise awareness with exhibition

By |

Victor Ochieng, an artist and Austin resident, and Derrell Spicy are hosting Wired Art to put the spotlight on the lack of communal art spaces in Austin.

Ochieng and Spicy, who teach after-school art programs at the Westside Health Authority, said having a community art center would give West Side artists more opportunities to share their talents.

The Wired Art exhibition opened March 18 and closes today. Stop by from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Austin Wellness Center, 4800 W. Chicago Ave. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed to assist with the establishment of an art gallery in Austin.
