Tonight at midnight is the deadline for voters to register online for the Nov. 4 elections; the deadline is earlier today if you’re going to register in person.
To be eligible to vote, you must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen.
- Be 17 years old on or before the date of the primary election (March 18, 2014) and turn 18 on or before the date the Nov. 4 general election.
- Live in your election precinct at least 30 days before election day.
- Not be convicted and in jail.
- Not claim the right to vote anywhere else
If you have an Illinois driver’s license or state ID, you may register online through the Illinois State Board of Elections website.
If you don’t have a driver’s license or state ID, fill out a form online, print, sign and mail in. Download a mail-in voter registration card here:

You can also register to vote at an Illinois Secretary of State’s drivers license facility. Registration is also available at other state government offices, including public assistance offices and military recruitment offices. Or you can visit 69 W. Washington St., Sixth Floor. Bring two forms of ID, at least one of which shows your current address.
