Get 11 days of work outs for free

Break a sweat, not the bank, during free fitness week at the Chicago Park District for the next 11 days.

From Jan. 2-12, there will be free classes, including boot camp, conditioning and more, plus lap swim.

All activities are first come, first served based on availability.

“We hope to inspire Chicagoans to get active,” Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Mike Kelly said in a press release. “The wide range of options we offer allow people at all fitness levels to find the right workout.”

The Chicago Park District’s 71 fitness centers feature state-of-the-art equipment, such as computerized treadmills, cross trainers, upright and recumbent bicycles, free weights and benches, cable cross-overs, multi-station weight machines, and core-focused weight equipment.

The Chicago Park District also offers a wide array of fitness classes for a range of ages and abilities, including aquatic aerobics, cycling, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing, and strength training, to name a few. Click here to learn more about what’s offered at specific parks.

Fitness classes vary per location; click here for times for Austin Town Hall, Columbus Park, Garfield Park, Homan Square Park, La Follette Park and Amundsen Park.

Lap swim is also available at many citywide pools, including Austin Town Hall, Homan Square Park and La Follette Park. Hours and times vary by park.

Membership rates to the Chicago Park District’s fitness centers range from $30 to $60 for three months.
