New state budget could have dire consequences for West Side

By |

The Illinois Legislative Black Caucus recognizes that Illinois has a revenue problem, and without new revenue, the proposed budget cuts will be a direct attack on almost every family in Illinois.

If you’re concerned about how Austin will be affected by the new state budget, which is supposed to take effect July 1, join members of the caucus, including state Rep. La Shawn Ford.

The caucus is holding a series of rallies to fight for programs and services valued by the communities served by members of the caucus.

Several organizations that serve communities which would suffer the most will discuss how the lack of support would increase crime, lower students’ opportunities to be qualified for good jobs and leave people without heat during Chicago’s coldest months.
