Fighting mass incarceration of youth

Join Charlene Carruthers of the Black Youth Project 100, Ethan Viets-VanLear of We Charge Genocide and Ahmed Hamad of Palestine Youth Collective will discuss how race impacts youth here and in the Middle East.

The event – “From Chicago to Palestine: Mass Incarceration and the Militarized Policing of Youth” – will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at the First United Church of Oak Park, 848 Lake St. in Oak Park.

The three will speak about the connections between struggles against police and military repression, mass incarceration and juvenile detention in communities of color in the U.S. and Palestine.

The free event is organized by the Committee for a Just Peace in Israel and Palestine.
