Mentoring recruitment fair set for Saturday

Circle Urban Ministries is hosting a mentoring recruitment event from 10:30 a.m. t0 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at its campus in Austin, 118 N. Central Ave.

Activities include a relay race, T-shirt painting, free food and a speech by Circle Urban’s executive director, Dr. George Wilson.

“A good role model can make a tremendous impact on a young adult’s life,” Wilson said. “Our 1-to-1 mentoring program provides a great outlet for caring adults to make a difference and shows these kids that they are not alone, that working toward a better future is an admirable goal that we can accomplish together.”

Circle Urban’s 1-to-1 mentoring program is seeking concerned adult Christian mentors who want to help build a better future for students grades 6-12 and who can meet in Austin twice a month.

Founded in 1974 by a group of concerned residents, Circle Urban is dedicated to empowering urban youth through programs focused on mentoring, college readiness, arts enrichment and spiritual development.

Tickets for Saturday’s event are free, and anyone interested can register at www.eventbrite.com/e/mentor-recruitment-event-tickets-11034890655.
