Group working to unite Austin and Oak Park residents

More than 100 people gathered recently to build on the work that began in the fall to help empower Austin residents and bring others to the West Side.

“How many people have gone out to breakfast in Austin?” Betsy Kalmar asked the group gathered last month at St. Catherine of Siena-St. Lucy Catholic Church.

Only a dozen people raised their hands, according to a story published by the Oak Leaves.

The meeting was a follow-up to a gathering in September hosted by the Community of Congregations.
