Get fresh, healthy food in Austin

PCC Community Wellness Center (PCC) marks the summer season on June 7 with the third annual Austin Produce Market.

In partnership with Windy City Harvest, an initiative launched by the Chicago Botanic Garden, PCC will host a community produce market bringing quality fruits and vegetables to Chicago’s West Side.

Windy City Harvest offers local, organic produce at affordable prices to counter otherwise limited options for Austin-area residents. The group harvests its own produce while teaching young adults the valuable work of urban agriculture. They partner with local groups, like PCC, to bring nutrition into urban communities.

The Austin Produce Market aims to bring the community together and provide a space for promoting healthy lifestyles. Families near the Austin community are encouraged to visit and participate in lifestyle and nutrition education activities.

Beginning Friday, June 7, Austin Produce Market will open to the public every Friday in June, July and August from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market, located outside PCC’s Austin Family Health Center at 5425 W. Lake St., will be closed on July 5.
