The Westside Ministers Coalition starts its Youth Spring Break event today. The program, which consists of seminars ranging from health awareness and college readiness to time management and financial literacy, runs through Wednesday.

The free event will be held daily at the El Palais Bu-Sche Banquet Hall, 4682 W. Washington Blvd. For those who attend all three days, a trip to Brookfield Zoo is scheduled for Thursday.

“The main purpose of this week is to change lives, resulting in changing the world by providing Chicagoland youth with life principles for success while on spring break,” said Phalese Binion, chairwoman of the Westside Ministers Coalition.

The 15-year program, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include materials, entertainment, free food and job placement. The program also intends to expose youth to a variety of events about keeping the peace and various alternatives to violence.

Registrations are still being accepted.
