Health awareness program targets West Side

By |

The Westside Health Authority’s Every WoMan Counts! Breast Health Program is hosting its first annual breast health forum to educate West Side residents about breast cancer.

On Saturday, March 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Every WoMan Counts and Pink Ambassadors invite both men and women to the Austin Town Hall Park, 5610 W. Lake St., for the meeting.

The forum’s aim is to help with “dispelling myths that prevent the community from getting needed care and treatment.”

Through community involvement, Every WoMan Counts looks to reduce the risk and mortality of breast cancer to women in the community. However, men, too, could be at risk for cancer.

The program looks to: empower women with breast health knowledge, help reduce the fees of testings and eliminate the delays of those tests results.

Free mammograms and clinical breast exams will be available.
