Meet the creator and cast of the Interrupters

By |

The Fifth Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Christ the King Jesuit College Prep continues the work that the Christ the King community began as “peace builders” when the West Side  high school, along with NBA legend Isiah Thomas, hosted the West Side Peace Tournament in November.  This event brought together would-be rivals from the community to work toward peace, with Christ The King students leading the charge.

On Jan. 21, following the Martin Luther King Jr. Mass, students will participate in an interactive Q&A and screening of the Interrupters hosted by CeaseFire Advocate, Tio Hardiman and Ameena Matthews, the daughter of former Chicago gang leader Jeff Fort who came to the aid of the mother of Derrion Albert, a Chicago high school student whose death made national headlines when it was captured on videotape.

The event begins with a 9:30 a.m. Mass, followed by the 12:30 p.m. Interrupters presentation. Location: 5088 W. Jackson Blvd.

Open to the public. For more information call:  Mary Beth Sammons at 847-757-3189.
