Jobs available at CPS

State Rep. La Shawn Ford sent out an e-mail this week with a list of open positions at the Chicago Public Schools. Here are the jobs we found on the West Side:

School Clerk Assistant (Bulletin No. 539) at Austin Polytechnical Academy, 231 N. Pine St. The minimum annual salary is $27,480.

Under the principal’s supervision, the school clerk assistant performs a variety of tasks, including filling out forms, distributing mail, greeting visitors, answering phones and scheduling appointments for school administrators.

Minimum Qualifications are: high school diploma (or G.E.D. equivalent), and the ability to type 35 words per minute with fewer than 10 errors; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Some college work is suggested but not required. Bilingual preferable.

Parent Advocate (Bulletin No. 540) at Oscar DePriest Elementary School, 139 S. Parkside Ave. The minimum annual salary is $31,024.

The Parent Advocate’s main duties include assisting professional educational personnel in planning, developing and presenting informational workshops at a CPS Parent Education Center and various school sites, and perform other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications are: high school diploma (or G.E.D. equivalent), three years of active participation and involvement in community organizations; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

The deadline to apply for both positions is 5 p.m. July 27.
