A nine-week program for children ages 5 to 12 will start next week.

Susan Banks, an attorney turned educator, created Around The City In 50 Day, which will take children on a cognitive and sensory journey around the Chicago area.

Highlights of this interactive and unique experience include visiting venues such as the Art Institute of Chicago, Navy Pier, universities and government buildings, and most of Chicago’s museums and cultural forums, including restaurants, theaters and foreign language academies.

The goal is to mentor children and introduce them to wonders outside of their neighborhood. Participating children will be acclimated to discovery, curiosity, and a sense of belonging to promote high self worth and a desire to learn.

The program, which starts June 20 and ends Aug. 19, will run Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children can be enrolled for two days a week, three days or a full five days a week, depending on space, which is limited. Weekly rates range from $175 to $375.

All fees, materials, meals, and incidentals for each student are included in the weekly tuition and free transportation will be located throughout the city to help parents drop off and pick up children with ease.
