Consumer advocates push Chicago City Council to take stand against bank fees

This week, JP Morgan Chase joined other big banks in imposing fees on their smallest checking accounts. Advocates for the poor are upset and want elected officials to take action.

It’s especially a problem in neighborhoods on Chicago’s West and South Sides, where banks are more sparse and residents have fewer options. The Monroe Foundation spotlighted the Monday at City Hall.
