What makes a “real” friend?

In high schools today, “friends” are such a big deal! There are some real friends and some fake ones, but in the end it’s all your choice.  Be careful who you call your “friend.”

Kiisha Long, a junior at V.O.I.S.E. Academy, believes, “A real friend is someone who is going to always have your back whether you are right or wrong, and they’re going to stick with you through whatever.”

She also believes a fake friend is someone who will smile in your face and talk behind your back.

In life, there are a lot of good people. Every once in a while you are going to come across some “crazy people.” You just have to overlook them and move on.

Sydney Miller, a junior at V.O.I.S.E. Academy, says, “A real friend is a person who you can confide in. Not only a person who you can talk to, but someone who can understand you without saying anything.”

She also believes a fake friend is a liar and a cheater. They’re the same person who says you can trust them, but stabs you in the back.

When you know that you can trust someone, it’s the best feeling any human could have. When that person stabs you in the back, it feels like the world is going to end. It’s about forgiveness, but everything isn’t okay. You forgive, but you can never forget.

Tashiena Ross, also a junior at V.O.I.S.E. Academy, says, “To me, a real friend is a person that sticks with you through anything. A fake friend is a person who talks about you behind your back and not there for you.”

She also says, “Don’t befriend everybody.”

Someone who talks about you behind your back is simply a “coward.”

Whitney Wright, a junior at V.O.I.S.E. Academy, says, “To me, a real friend is honest and always has your back and is trustworthy. A fake friend is a person that lies, talks about you, is phony, and uses you in the wrong way, and also takes advantage of you and doesn’t have your back.”

She also believes that before you call someone your friend, you need to watch their actions.

Sadly, we are all human, and some of us just can’t be a real friend. Being a friend takes a lot because everyone has different emotions. To the “REAL” people in the world, keep it up because there’s nothing like having a true friend.

  1. I feel that this is a true definition of a real friend and alot of people in today’s world do not live up to meet these standards. So what’s the point of getting close to someone.
