Workshop on improving your credit score held this week

“How Credit Scores Affect Your Job Search,” the last installment of a four-part Job Readiness workshop series, will be held Oct. 12 at 5 p.m.

Did you know that more and more companies are now checking credit scores of potential employees? And that sometimes they do this without your knowledge?

Credit scores are no longer just used to get a house or an apartment, a car or a credit card.  More and more, credit scores are becoming part of the routine background checks, and can in some cases, prevent you from getting the job.

This workshop will include tips on fixing your credit and making sure your score doesn’t prevent you from getting a job.

You will also learn how to get copies of your credit report, what to look for on credit reports and how to correct errors.  This workshop will also provide information about how to avoid becoming a victim of identity theft.

The workshop will be led by Christopher Avent of Creating Educated Consumers Inc. (CEC) and held at Healing Temple Head Start, 4941 W. Chicago Ave.
