Visitation for the principal of St. Angela’s School, who died unexpectedly Saturday, ends at 9 tonight, and her funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Mary Kay O’Rourke died from a blood clot to her lungs, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
“She was getting excited — school is starting Wednesday,” her brother Michael O’Rourke told the Sun-Times.
His sister really valued the Catholic education she got at St. Ferdinand’s Elementary School on the Northwest Side and at Mother Guerin High School, he said.
“It was her love of all children and wanting them to get that same education — that’s why she was on the West Side of Chicago for 15 years educating kids.”
Tonight’s visitation and tomorrow’s mass will be held at St. Juliana Church, 7201 N. Oketo.
